This investigation analyzes the phenomenon of the pluralization of the impersonal verb haber in the urban Spanish of the Yucatan. The objective is to establish what linguistic, social, and stylistic factors favor it. The data was collected by means of sociolinguistic interviews and questionnaires. This combination of methods supports the generalization that this is a phenomenon whose variation is strongly bound to the gender of the speakers.
