Los datos se recopilaron por medio de dieciocho entrevistas sociolingüísticas hechas en Puerto Rico en las que participaron 30 personas. Los resultados apuntan hacia la generalización semántica de la perífrasis estar + -ndo en el español puertorriqueño, que la ha llevado a desprenderse de su sentido locativo etimológico hasta abarcar contextos progresivos o durativos en su desarrollo, e incluso ha llegado a alcanzar contextos habituales con matices pragmáticos. This study analyzes the variation of the periphrasis estar + -ndo in the present temporal context in Puerto Rican Spanish. Eighteen sociolinguistic interviews with 30 informants provided data for multivariate analysis that determined linguistic and extralinguistic factors that condition the occurrence of the periphrasis. Results point to semantic generalization of the periphrasis estar + -ndo. By this process the periphrasis construction has gone from locative referential meaning to progressive or durative meaning, even to habitual meaning, albeit with pragmatic nuances. |
