Obviation in Argument Structure: Spanish Prepositional Arguments and Expanded Unergatives in Italian and English
Eva Juarros-Daussà
38-49 (complete paper or proceedings contents)

Abstract

This paper presents a novel analysis of the locative alternation in Spanish framed within the theory of argument structure of Hale and Keyser (2002). The proposed expansion of the theory also predicts the unergative-unaccusative alternation in Italian, and the unergative-transitive alternation in English.
