This paper shows that null pronouns in Singapore English have similar distributional restrictions as weak pronouns in American English. Despite this, they also seem to be structurally complex, and pass a number of tests for argument ellipsis. The paper discusses the implications of these facts for diagnostics for the strength of pronouns and argument ellipsis taken together, alongside an account of apparent island insensitivity in Singapore English.
