Abstract

This work addresses a previously undescribed phenomenon of structured questions, that is, questions that raise two hierarchically related QUDs (Questions Under Discussion). I provide data from Turkish alternative questions, and derive the QUD structure by giving a semantics to a particle yoksa that marks the last item of a list of possible answers to a QUD.
