Retrieving Antecedents in Processing: Binder Indices and ϕ-Features
Keir Moulton
30-40 (complete paper or proceedings contents)

Abstract

In this short note I want to meditate on how a set of processing results, reported by Moulton & Han (to appear), can be understood in light of two theoretical ideas about pronouns. The first is that some pronouns are disguised definite descriptions, specifically D-type pronouns (Elbourne, 2005). The second is a theory how ϕ-features are encoded on semantic binders in the syntax, building on work by Sudo (2012).
