Trill Variation in Dominican Spanish: An Acoustic Examination and Comparative Analysis Erik W. Willis 121-131 (complete pdf) This paper is an acoustic analysis of the Spanish trill in the Santo Domingo dialect of Dominican Spanish produced by ten young adult educated speakers. The findings of the Santo Domingo dialect are compared to recent findings by Willis (2005) for the Cibao region of the Dominican Republic. A pre-breathy voiced rhotic was the most commonly occurring Dominican Spanish allophone. Dialectal variation was manifest in allophonic frequency and distribution.
