This work presents a study on the delimitation of the conversational routines of spoken Spanish based on the application of the system of units proposed by Antonio Briz and the Val.Es.Co. group for the analysis of conversational language. One of the features of the conversational routines proposed by Corpas in his Manual de Fraseología Española (1996:132) is that they are autonomous sequences of spoken language; that is, they are independent utterances. However, we will demonstrate with the application of the system of units proposed by Briz and the Val.Es.Co. group that not all the conversational routines obey this feature when they exist in oral Spanish. Starting from the data extraction of oral corpora, we will study the contextual use of the conversational routines and apply the new system of units to check whether they are independent utterances or not.
