Degree Restrictions in Spanish Exclamatives
Javier Gutiérrez-Rexach and Patricia Andueza
286-295 (complete paper or proceedings contents)

Abstract

In this paper several properties of exclamative constructions are studied, relating them to degree expressions and to propositional content. Additional evidence from Spanish is presented with the goal of refining the general typology of exclamatives, and of explaining the differential restrictions on each exclamative subtype. This line of argumentation can be useful in elucidating current debates on the semantic content of this construction class.
