Abstract

It is often reported in the Russian pedagogical literature that Russian aspect represents a particular challenge for second language (L2) learners. This paper reports the results of an experiment that tested 41 English learners of Russian on the truth value judgment task. These results demonstrate that L2 learners of Russian experience no problems in acquiring the Russian inner aspect, revealing that the difficulties that L2 learners experience with Russian aspect are not of the syntactic type.
