  • There are several important advantages of publishing a proceedings with Cascadilla Proceedings Project. We publish the proceedings in print as well as on the web, and we take on some of the work involved in preparing a proceedings for publication. We provide a stable home for the proceedings on the web, free from the whims of university computer support departments. We handle production and sales of the print edition, covering all costs involved in publishing a print edition of a proceedings, keeping it in print, and selling it.

Most importantly, we are hosting a growing number of linguistics proceedings on a single web site. Each proceedings can be browsed as an independent publication, but researchers can also search across many proceedings at once. Including a proceedings in this project means much greater exposure and availability than independent publication.

Cascadilla Proceedings Project was created as a solution for a significant problem: many publishers cannot publish proceedings of smaller conferences because the proceedings are not economically viable. If your proceedings series is currently being published in a different way that you are happy with, we recommend continuing with that approach right now. For example, Cascadilla Press will continue publishing the BUCLD Proceedings in paperback format and not as part of this project.
